“Gentleman” Garrett Arb
Garrett Arb is only 13, but he has far more experience playing the banjo and guitar than his age would suggest. He started taking banjo lessons at age 9, and rapidly mastered the rudiments of playing, and has since logged many hours performing on stage at Bluegrass Festivals, Little Theatre, Private Parties and on TV.
Garrett has played at the following venues:
•
Box Car Pinion Memorial Bluegrass Festival, Chattanooga, TN
•
The Conasauga Bluegrass Festival, Dalton, GA
•
Southeast High Festival, Dalton, GA
•
Fat Shirley's Trailer Park play (Little Theatre, Dalton, GA)
•
Performed solo between Sean's changes for the play Beverly hillbillies, Fort Oglethorpe, GA
•
Garrett Placed 1st in an Open Banjo Contest sponsored by the Booth Western Art Museum in Cartersville, GA
•
Performed on stage at the Maggie Valley, NC Opry House with the legendary Raymond Fairchild, March 31 & April 1, 2006 .
Raymond Fairchild, a five-time World Banjo Champion and Grand Ole Opry Member, recently had the following to say about Garrett’s playing ability:
"Garrett was one of the most talented musicians for his age that he has encountered, and in about another year, he would be right up there with the best, if not the best in the business. Garrett could out pick most of the banjo players out there already." ~ Raymond Fairchild ~
